•RBA submitted a Conditional Use Permit application on July 15, 2024 for a 

 Nature Center at Rusty Bucket Acres

•The Planning Committee will have a Public Hearing regarding the land use 

 request for RBA

•The Public is invited and will be able to speak regarding your support of 

 RBA and the importance of the farm to the community.

•The Planning Committee will either forward our application to the city 

 council with recommendations to approve or recommendation to deny.

•The City Council will then, vote to approve or deny the application.

As it currently stands Rusty Bucket Acres cannot schedule farm visits.  This is due to the City of Afton not understanding that RBA is a NON-Commercial Non-Profit.  Specifically we are a 501.c.3 which is for organizations that offer a benefit to the community by educating, providing outreach and opportunities for all.  Nonprofits are organizations that do not operate for the purpose of making a profit for their owners.  Instead, they exist to provide a benefit to the public, its members or its beneficiaries.  Earnings are either donated to other nonprofits, to meet beneficiaries' needs or invested back into the nonprofit to further its mission.  Some nonprofits obtain funding through donors while others do so via contributions from members, grants and or the sale of products or services.  RBA DOES NOT SELL PRODUCTS OR SERVICES, WE DO NOT HAVE EMPLOYEES NOR DO WE PAY WAGES TO ANYONE.  Receiving a donation for a visit, is not selling a service.  People come to the farm and make a good-will donation they feel they want to make to support the farm and its continued success.  

501(c)(3):  Charitable, Religious or Educational Organizations

     An organization may qualify for a 501(c)(3) status if its run for religious, charitable, literary or educational purposes. It  may also qualify if it operated to advance national or international sports competitions, test for public safety or prevent cruelty to animals or children.
